The first Scientific Advisory Board meeting

CoEBoC’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) gathered for the first meeting in January 15-16, 2019. The SAB is consisted of three members: Professor Elisabeth (Sabeth) Verpoorte from University of Groningen, The Netherlands, professor Gordon G. Wallace from University of Wollongong, Australia and professor Jöns Hilborn from Uppsala University, Sweden.

During the two days the CoEBoC:s research was introduced for the SAB members in multiple manners in both campuses. In addition to the general meeting with PIs, there was a poster session where postdocs and PhD-students presented their work and SAB made also a tour in the laboratories in both campuses. On Tuesday evening we had a nice dinner in Hangaslahti and there was also a possibility to have a smoke sauna and do ice swimming.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated for feedback and discussion. SAB members gave us very valuable comments and constructive criticism. They brought up fresh perspectives and ideas. The meeting was very valuable and inspiring for the PIs as well as for all researchers of our Centre of Excellence!
